We believe all people have the right to participate fully in their community and have access to the opportunities therein. We believe we are at our strongest when we are inclusive and diverse, with all people receiving equal treatment under the law and access to their government.
We believe that our economy only works when it works for everyone. Our county's workforce is a vibrant collection of individuals and families; not merely a tool to generate profits for a few. Ensuring economic justice improves the bottom line as well as serving as a core value.
A healthy community must always balance individual convenience with collective public health needs. In the course of the COVID crisis, we have all seen the need for individual participation in public health directives, as well as the potential for disparate effects on vulnerable populations.
Everyone deserves a clean and safe place to call home, and that principle benefits all of us whether we are currently housed or not. Services must be fair and effective not only to protect against crime or disasters, but also to protect against economic challenges.
A fair and just government must be transparent and accountable to those it serves. We count on our elected leaders to be prudent trustees of our tax dollars as well as the authority for which they are stewards. Residents must be able to participate in the democratic process.
